VIDEO POST relaunches the installation of Kosei Komatsu at his studio in Tokyo in 2020 (sound by Sawako)
The light refracts in the air and hits the ground, making a sound.
I wonder what it would sound like if you heard it from inside the ground?
I was suddenly reminded of cicada shells.
I tried to connect the image to a drop of rain.
I imagined a drop of rain falling from a great height.
When it touched my skin or burst on the ground, I could see it.
I tried to see how many drops of rain I could see by straining my eyes,
and how many sounds I could hear by closing my eyes.
I felt like I was going to panic, as I pushed my senses to the limit.
I stopped counting.
As I expanded my awareness, I felt a sense of lightness.
The water droplets on the window were illuminated by the streetlights,
and strange and interesting shadows flowed over my skin.
On a sunny day, memories of the rain lifted my spirits.
